- Cut and sewn in Bengaluru, forty minutes from the shop, by a workroom of nine.
- Length
- Inside leg is left long at 88 cm and finished to your leg in the shop, usually while you wait.
- Care
- Wash at 30 °C, inside out, on its own for the first three washes — the indigo will give. Line dry. Do not tumble.
The cut
The pattern is graded from a 1950s French work trouser we cut apart. We kept the rise and the width and lost the pleats.
How it is put together
- Single-needle side seams, felled and topstitched at 6 mm.
- Unfused waistband, interlined with woven cotton canvas so it softens rather than bubbles.
- A two-piece back rise, which costs an extra operation and keeps the seat clean.
- Bar-tacked at both pocket mouths and at the fly.
- Pocket bags in the same twill as the trouser, not in lining cloth.
- Buttonholes worked on a keyhole machine; the button is corozo, not resin.
